Elementary Paradigms-Ahmedabad-3rd, 4th April,2010
The IAACD just completed its first program for the year 2010 which took place on the 3rd and 4th of April, 2010 in Ahmedabad. The program was a resounding success as it met with all the targets that were set. Day one of the program consisting of didactics by all the seven sponsoring companies with Dr.Ajay Kakar, Dr. Uday Shetty, Dr. Ramesh Shankar, Dr. Kanir Bhatia, Dr. Mona Kakar and Dr. Suchi Shah lecturing. The program was held in hotel Courtyard Marriot and the target set was for 100 delegates. There were 124 registered delegates for the day. An important issue to be shared with the Board is that the registrations came in only in the last 4 days. Till Monday there were barely 25 registrations and the figure on Thursday was also hovering around 45. There were about 25 spot registrations and the balance came in on the previous day. The responses to the lectures was very good and most of the delegates were interactive and very excited with the scientific presentations. The hotel had an excellent infrastructure and the food and AV requirements were excellent. Day two of the program consisted of hands on sessions by three of the sponsoring companies - Nobel Biocare, 3M and Ultradent. Since the capacity of each hands on session was for only 20 delegates, a number of delegates who wanted to register for Day Two had to be refused. With extreme constraints six more delegates were accepted. The hands on sessions in three cycles were conducted by Dr. Kanir Bhatia, Dr. Mona Kakar and Dr. Ramesh Shankar respectively . The three remained completely busy from 10.00 AM all the way to 4.00 PM. Dr. Kanir Bhatia did a primer on Implants with placement of dummy implants by all the delegates, Dr. Mona Kakar got all delegates to do a Cl II molar restoration on typodont teeth and Dr. Ramesh Shankar had all the delegates doing an anterior composite layering build up.
