Esthetic Expressions - "Colorful Dentistry" - Dr. Ajay Kakar

When the very narrow spectrum of visible light from 400 to 700 nm is studied it reveals the following. The above spectrum reveals the rainbow colors and shows that different colors of light is basically a wave, i.e. a radiation of a specific wavelength. The 400 nm wavelength of radiation is visually discernable to the human eye as the color “Violet” while the radiation of wavelength 700 nm is discernable as the color “Red”. Surprisingly there is no white color seen on the Visible Light Spectrum. The color white, or white light as we see it is basically the entire range of 700-400 nm waves presented simultaneously.

This requires an understanding of how the human eye sees color. It is easy to explain this concept with an example. If one sees a ball of red color, what is happening is that ball is basically reflecting light energy or what we can term as light waves of all the wavelengths from 700-400 except for the wavelength of Red which happens to be 700.                                                 .............Previous Page,    Next Page  Page 3
