Esthetic Expressions - "Colorful Dentistry" - Dr. Ajay Kakar

Color can be defined as the “Visual effect caused by the spectral composition of the electromagnetic radiation (falling under the visible light spectrum) emitted, transmitted, or reflected by objects."

To be able to understand color, it is imperative for us to first understand light, since color is only a specification of a particular wavelength of light. Light in turn is nothing else but electromagnetic radiation which falls under the visible light spectrum. There is ample discussion in the subject of physics as to the nature of light. Light has been considered to be a wave and also considered to be a particle. It is beyond the scope of this article to discuss pure physics and the dual nature of light shall be accepted and a further elaboration of the subject continued.

The entire universe is constantly being exposed to a large spectrum of electromagnetic radiation. We as humans are able to perceive some parts of these radiations and are not even aware of the majority of radiations all around us since our receptive elements are not sensitive to them.      ...Next Page   Page 1
